17-4-PH stainless steel
17-4 PH steel is used to produce stainless strain gauges, etc. It is a nickel-chromium stainless steel alloy. The process of hardening of this type of steel is very simple. This type of stainless steel is six times more corrosion-resistant than 4340 type. Unlike 18-8 stainless steel, 17-4 PH steel can be thermally processed up to hardness of 40 to 45 units (the Rockwell scale), which is the optimal hardness for elastic components of strain gauges.
